Oct. 10: What: WCFC Fort DeSoto Volunteer Work Day. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Bay Pier Parking Lot. This work day is open to all WCFC scouts. Paint and paint brushes will be provided. Bring own drinks to stay hydrated. All volunteers (Adult and scouts) will receive a certification logging there service hours which they can use for rank advancement or units Journey to Excellence program. No uniform required, work cloths that may get paint on them. REGISTER: http://www.wcfcbsa.org/event/ft-desoto-service-day/1740049. Oct. 16-18: District Camporee, Camp Soule, Clearwater: We have another campout planned for October (Hillsborough River State Park on 10/23-25) but we NEED Adult leaders who will attend and organizing a group. If you are interested, please see our Camping Coordinator, Mr. Curtis Cruise.
Nov. 4: Scoutmaster Tomalin will be on the Suwannee River with his Outdoor Leadership class from USFSP and will be unable to attend the meeting. Coincidentally, the Parrish Hall is not available. So the planets have aligned perfectly for a Scout Fun Night. Troop 219 will go bowling at Sunrise Lanes, 6393 9th Street North, St. Petersburg, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $6.25 per scout. The troop will pick up the tab, unless you are feeling generous, then contributions will be accepted. Scouts should bring money for snacks. Cat Cobb is the Special Parent In Charge for this event. She will need to know if you plan to bowl by Oct. 28.
Nov. 14: USF vs. Temple Scout Day, time TBD, $23 package includes south end zone ticket, USF Scout patch, USF hat, group name scoreboard recognition and opportunity to hold field length American flag during halftime. To purchase block seating call Dan Izzo at (813) 974-9112. Deadline Nov. 2. It would be great if we had an assistant scoutmaster/parent in charge (ASPIC) to coordinate this event. Nov. 27: This is the night of our annual “Lock In” at the Parrish Hall. Scouts will spend the night then be on site bright and early with their work gloves on to help unload Christmas Trees and set up the lot. We need volunteers for the lock in and it is an outstanding opportunity for parents of new troop members to bond with their scouts. Also, we can use extra hands on Saturday, Nov. 28, so if you are a parent/guardian who is too busy to come to the meetings and/or campouts, this is a great chance come out and show your support for Troop 219!
Dec. 9, 2015: We will hold our annual Christmas Campfire/Webelo Recruitment event at Fort DeSoto’s group campground, which is rumored to have the nicest bathroom facilities in Pinellas County. We need our membership chair to start spreading the word. Brian O’Neill will be coordinating this event. Please e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots.
